Corner Shops - On this page we are attempting to find and document former back street shops.  If you have information, photographs, dates or memories of these places please do let us know.
F Studd's shop, at the corner of Ufton Lane and Epps Road The entrance (now bricked up) was in the corner of the building.

General Store, Park Road (East side), in 2009 a private house.

Top of Park Road, West side. Closed in 2009. Previously Pet Shop, Video/TV shop

Formerly Co-op butchers, Park Road West side. In 1980s used a a glass shop.  Demolished in  2008 replaced with appartments.
 
Manuall's general store, West Street, south side. closed.

Arthur Street / Hawthorn Road - what was this shop ?

Dawn writes in 2009:

"My childhood friend's Grandad used to own this shop when we were younger. I am 36 now so it was a little while ago - perhaps the 1980s. 

The shop was a gun shop, military memorabilia if I remember rightly. Old war medals, uniforms, caps and hats that sort of thing.   George Stockley was his name and we think the shop had the initials as its name or part of its name."
